New York Attorney General Letitia James today joined a coalition of 18 other attorneys general in suing the Trump administration to protect the H-1B visa program, which allows highly-trained immigrants to temporarily work in the United States and fill critical roles in health care, education, technology, and other fields. In September, the administration suddenly announced that a $100,000 fee would be imposed on all new H-1B applications, a massive increase over the visa’s typical fees, which have historically been just several thousand dollars. H-1B visa holders fill essential roles as teachers, nurses, doctors, researchers, engineers, and more in communities across the country. The new fee threatens to completely upend the program and make it effectively inaccessible for government and nonprofit employers who rely on H-1B visa holders to provide essential services. In a lawsuit filed today in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, Attorney General James and the coalition argue that imposing this new fee is unlawful and violates the Administrative Procedure Act.
“H-1B visas allow talented doctors, nurses, teachers, and other workers to serve communities in need across our country,” said Attorney General James. “The administration’s illegal attempt to ruin this program will make it harder for New Yorkers to get health care, disrupt our children’s education, and hurt our economy. I will keep fighting to stop this chaos and cruelty targeting immigrant communities.”
Since the 1950s, the United States has had a visa program that allows skilled workers to…

By Jonas BronckThe New York Public Library (NYPL) on Monday announced a landmark $50 million gift from philanthropists Lynne and Richard Pasculano that will permanently endow the Library’s adult education programs, which support English language learning, workforce development, digital tech literacy, and more. The endowment will help maintain and grow the Library’s adult education programs, prioritizing branches that serve under-resourced communities where these programs stand to make the greatest impact. This gift builds upon previous commitments from the Pasculano family totalling $18.5 million to support adult learning at the Library, including establishing the flagship Pasculano Learning Center at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library.
In recognition of this gift, the Library has officially renamed its Vice President of Branch Libraries and Patron Services to “The Pasculano Vice President of Branch Libraries and Patron Services.”
This comes at a time when Library programs and services are in increasing demand. The Library is the largest non-municipal provider of English language instruction. In 2025, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) attendance has already surpassed 200,000, exceeding last year’s figures. TechConnect offers thousands of digital literacy courses each year that empower New Yorkers to learn everything from…

As grocery prices remain stubbornly high, and families struggle to afford everyday essentials, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer sounded the alarm on Instacart’s use of artificial intelligence to charge different customers different prices for the same exact grocery items. Schumer warned that AI-enabled pricing schemes allow large corporations to quietly raise prices behind the scenes, leaving some shoppers with significantly higher grocery bills than others for no legitimate reason. Schumer detailed how these deceptive pricing tactics could cost certain families as much as $1,200 more per year, with New Yorkers and Long Islanders especially vulnerable. Schumer said that consumers are being squeezed and that federal regulators must step in, calling the Federal Trade Commission “checked out” when it comes to protecting grocery shoppers. Schumer demanded new action from the FTC to crack down on AI-driven price gouging and ensure families are not being taken advantage of at the checkout line.
“When a shopper fills their grocery cart whether in real life or digitally, they should trust that they are being treated fairly and that prices are transparent. What we are seeing more and more of is that companies like Instacart are using artificial intelligence to rip off consumers by charging different shoppers different prices for the same exact items. This is jacking up grocery costs across New York City, Long Island, and across the nation. So, today, I am sounding the alarm on this predatory practice and demanding the federal government take new action to protect families from this shakedown pricing,” said U.S. Senator Charles Schumer.
According to Consumer Reports, many U.S. shoppers who order grocery deliveries through Instacart are unknowingly part of widespread AI-enabled experiments that price identical products differently for different customers—sometimes by as much as 23 percent. Based…

Coaching changes always bring a mix of uncertainty and excitement to college football, and the Mountain West Conference (MWC) is no exception. As the league heads into the 2025 season, several programs will be guided by new or recently settled leaders who could shape the future of their schools. Some inherit proven rosters, while others face the challenge of turning struggling teams around, but all of them add new storylines to an already competitive league.
1. Spencer Danielson, Boise State University
Spencer Danielson has already built an impressive start with Boise State, going 15-3 and securing two MWC titles along with a College Football Playoff berth in less than two seasons. That kind of early success is why oddsmakers currently list the Broncos at +220 to win the Mountain West again in 2025, the shortest odds in the conference. These numbers are available across a range of platforms, including popular options without KYC requirements, which are known for generous bonuses, anonymous betting, and flexible payment methods.
Odds offered by these bookmakers are more than just betting lines; they often reflect how a team’s performance and a coach’s reputation are perceived in the wider market. Danielson’s teams play with discipline and energy. His ability to maximize player development makes him the most compelling figure among MWC coaches.
