From day one, our administration’s North Star has been public safety. We have gone to work to sweep out crime and illegal activities from our neighborhoods, and because of this work, we are currently in our eighth consecutive quarter of crime reductions. That means for almost two straight years — since January 2024 — crime has consistently declined each quarter in New York City.
But public safety is about more than just policing. To make sure our communities feel safe and are safe, we must make smart, upstream investments that prevent crime in the first place. We must invest in our young people and provide them with safe places away from gun violence. Places to just be kids, and to play and build trust with law enforcement.
Last week, we opened the “Harlem Field of Dreams,” a state-of-the-art sporting field in Harlem that will provide a space for our young people to play baseball, softball, football, soccer, and lacrosse, as well as learn life skills and stay engaged in positive activities. First announced in our State of the City address earlier this year, this $11 million project has turned a dilapidated field into a vibrant, safe, and enriching space for 800 children in Harlem to play, learn, and build trust. With this new field, parents can rest easy knowing that the growth and safety of their child is not limited to the classroom. The programming at the Harlem Field of Dreams will keep our children healthy, engaged,…

Eric Adams, New York City’s Mayor and New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga today announced a landmark $38.9 million settlement with Starbucks for widespread violation of the city’s Fair Workweek Law — the largest worker protection settlement in New York City history. A multi-year investigation by DCWP found that Starbucks committed more than half a million violations of the law since 2021, illegally denying thousands of workers across more than 300 locations the right to stable and predictable schedules, as well as the right to pick up additional hours and earn more; instead, Starbucks arbitrarily cut schedules and illegally prioritized their own profits over their workers’ rights.
The settlement announced today requires Starbucks to pay more than $35.5 million in restitution to over 15,000 workers harmed by Starbucks’ unlawful practices, as well as any additional workers who come forward. The settlement also requires Starbucks to pay $3.4 million in civil penalties and costs and requires the company to comply with the law going forward. With today’s settlement, the Adams administration has now secured nearly $90 million in worker relief from different companies as it ensures New York workers get every dollar they have earned.
“It does not matter how big your business is or how much money your company makes, if you violate our workers’ rights, you will pay the price,” said Mayor Adams. “With this landmark settlement, we will put tens of millions of dollars back into the pockets of hard-working New Yorkers and reinforce every New Yorker’s right to a reliable schedule, full hours, and basic dignity. We’ll make sure that New York City remains a place where employees are treated fairly and…

Coaching changes always bring a mix of uncertainty and excitement to college football, and the Mountain West Conference (MWC) is no exception. As the league heads into the 2025 season, several programs will be guided by new or recently settled leaders who could shape the future of their schools. Some inherit proven rosters, while others face the challenge of turning struggling teams around, but all of them add new storylines to an already competitive league.
1. Spencer Danielson, Boise State University
Spencer Danielson has already built an impressive start with Boise State, going 15-3 and securing two MWC titles along with a College Football Playoff berth in less than two seasons. That kind of early success is why oddsmakers currently list the Broncos at +220 to win the Mountain West again in 2025, the shortest odds in the conference. These numbers are available across a range of platforms, including popular options without KYC requirements, which are known for generous bonuses, anonymous betting, and flexible payment methods.
Odds offered by these bookmakers are more than just betting lines; they often reflect how a team’s performance and a coach’s reputation are perceived in the wider market. Danielson’s teams play with discipline and energy. His ability to maximize player development makes him the most compelling figure among MWC coaches.
