In today’s media-saturated culture, a peculiar type of liberal has emerged: the so-called “white savior liberal.” This archetype has become not only a cultural trope but also a self-serving identity for those who, under the guise of compassion, propagate moral hypocrisy and cultural condescension. The white savior liberal is often depicted in mainstream films and social media, but in real life, they are people who genuinely believe they hold a moral monopoly over social justice, charity, and human decency. What this reveals is less altruism than a dangerously inflated sense of personal virtue and superiority.
The Moral Fallacy of the White Savior Liberal
At its core, the white savior liberal embodies a moral fallacy. They assume that by intervening in the lives of others, often in communities they do not belong to and sometimes do not understand, they are performing an inherently good act. Yet this assumption is deeply flawed. Genuine altruism respects the autonomy and agency of those being helped. The white savior, by contrast, imposes their worldview, values, and judgment on others, often undermining local leadership and cultural norms. What is presented as empathy is often, in fact, arrogance cloaked in virtue signaling.
The Superiority Complex
A defining feature of the white savior liberal is the superiority complex. They carry an unshakable belief that their education, skin color, or social position grants them unique insight into the challenges faced by marginalized communities. This mentality can be…

By Jonas BronckMy first acquaintance with The Jewish Quarterly (JQ) came by way of a miniature treasure—small in dimensions but towering in scope—that arrived in my mailbox after I ordered it from Yivo: The Rudashevski Diary. Just 204 pages of a small handwritten notebook, were fully and superbly translated from Yiddish and accompanied by a wonderful introduction. The diary was the work of Yitzchak Rudashevski begun at age 14 in 1941 and completed in 1943, all of it composed in the Vilna ghetto.
“The first ghetto day begins. I run right into the street. The little streets are still full of a restless mass of people. It is hard to push your way through. I feel as if I were in a box. There is no air to breathe… It is Yom Kippur Eve. A sad mood suffuses the ghetto. People have such a sad High Holy Day feeling. I am as far from religion now as before the ghetto. Nevertheless, this holiday is drenched in blood and sorrow which is solemnized in the ghetto, now…

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga today announced a landmark $38.9 million settlement with Starbucks for widespread violation of the city’s Fair Workweek Law — the largest worker protection settlement in New York City history. A multi-year investigation by DCWP found that Starbucks committed more than half a million violations of the law since 2021, illegally denying thousands of workers across more than 300 locations the right to stable and predictable schedules, as well as the right to pick up additional hours and earn more; instead, Starbucks arbitrarily cut schedules and illegally prioritized their own profits over their workers’ rights.
The settlement announced today requires Starbucks to pay more than $35.5 million in restitution to over 15,000 workers harmed by Starbucks’ unlawful practices, as well as any additional workers who come forward. The settlement also requires Starbucks to pay $3.4 million in civil penalties and costs and requires the company to comply with the law going forward. With today’s settlement, the Adams administration has now secured nearly $90 million in worker relief from different companies as it ensures New York workers get every dollar they have earned.
“It does not matter how big your business is or how much money your company makes, if you violate our workers’ rights, you will pay the price,” said Mayor Adams. “With this landmark settlement, we will put tens of millions of dollars back into the pockets of hard-working New Yorkers and reinforce every New Yorker’s right to a reliable schedule, full hours, and basic dignity. We’ll make sure that New York City remains a place where employees are treated fairly and…

Coaching changes always bring a mix of uncertainty and excitement to college football, and the Mountain West Conference (MWC) is no exception. As the league heads into the 2025 season, several programs will be guided by new or recently settled leaders who could shape the future of their schools. Some inherit proven rosters, while others face the challenge of turning struggling teams around, but all of them add new storylines to an already competitive league.
1. Spencer Danielson, Boise State University
Spencer Danielson has already built an impressive start with Boise State, going 15-3 and securing two MWC titles along with a College Football Playoff berth in less than two seasons. That kind of early success is why oddsmakers currently list the Broncos at +220 to win the Mountain West again in 2025, the shortest odds in the conference. These numbers are available across a range of platforms, including popular options without KYC requirements, which are known for generous bonuses, anonymous betting, and flexible payment methods.
Odds offered by these bookmakers are more than just betting lines; they often reflect how a team’s performance and a coach’s reputation are perceived in the wider market. Danielson’s teams play with discipline and energy. His ability to maximize player development makes him the most compelling figure among MWC coaches.
