On Sunday, September 9, 2012, New York Road Runners (NYRR) will host the inaugural Bronx 10 Miler as part of its 5-Borough Series. NYRR is still accepting registrants for the race, which kicks off at 8 a.m.
The Bronx 10-Miler is designed to start and finish a few blocks from the iconic Yankee Stadium in the heart of the Bronx. The out-and-back course continues on Grand Concourse for four miles before runners complete a small loop and head back towards Yankee Stadium.
Registration for the race is $40 for NYRR members and $55 for non-members up until September 8. If race day registration is available, it will be $45 for NYRR members and $60 for non-members.
The 5-Borough Series takes runners on a tour of the boroughs. The Manhattan Half, which was held in January as an unscored event due to a snowstorm, kicks off the tour followed by the Brooklyn Half Marathon in May. The Queens 10K was held in July and the last race of the series, the Staten Island Half Marathon, will be held in October.
This is the first year that the 5-Borough Series features races of different distances as traditionally, it boasts a series of half marathons. Runners who are members of NYRR and complete four out of five races in the series will receive guaranteed entry into the 2013 NYC Half.
