Frank F. Clinton Sr., a retired maintenance supervisor for Wakefern Food Distribution, Inc. in Middletown and a long time resident of the area, entered into rest on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Newburgh. He was 74 years old.

The son of the late George W. and Josephine (Albi) Clinton, he was born on June 20, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY. Frank served our country honorably in the U.S. Army. On June 10, 1961 he married his beloved Sally (Catania) Clinton at the Blessed Sacrament Church in the Bronx, NY.

Frank was always a lover of cars. While growing up in Bronx he spent a lot of his free time “souping up” his favorite muscle cars to drag race them at Clason Pt. He took much pride in the car that he built which is displayed on the prayer cards. While battling COPD/emphysema, Frank traveled the country in search of the perfect “kit” for an ’87 Chevy Caprice. He would later name his creation “The Challenge”.

The family would like to thank Percey and the staff at SLCH ER, the staff on 2N for their constant caring in making Frank’s last few days as comfortable as possible. We would also like to thank Dr. Thomas Reed and his associates and staff at Horizon Family Medical for their tireless dedication. Frank was Dr. Reed’s #40 patient when he opened his office back in the 80’s. We also would like to thank Good Samaritan Home Health Care for the tireless dedication with the many visits to see to Frank’s needs. Sue Remington and Dorah went above and beyond. Last but not least, all our friends and neighbors, both on Sara Lane, Newburgh and our former neighbors at Carlton Circle, New Windsor, thank you for remembering Frank and for comforting us in your own special ways and for remembering how wonderful of a man Frank was.

Frank was also a volunteer with the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.

In addition to his wife, Sally, at home, Frank is survived by his children: Frank F. Clinton Jr. and his wife, Alicia of Brooklyn, Paul J. Clinton and his wife, Maria of Hampton Bays, NY and JoAnn Clinton of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren: Alyse Lyn Clinton of Brooklyn, Ashley Lyn Clinton of Ridgewood Queens and James Salvatore Clinton and Christopher Paul Clinton of Hampton Bays; a brother, Paul C. Clinton of Berkeley, CA; his mother-in-law, who was like a second mother, Antoinette Catania; his brother-in-law, Vincent and his wife, Kathy Catania; his nieces and nephews: George Clinton, Rick Clinton, Kim Clinton, Melissa Clinton, Philip Clinton, Vincent Catania, Thomas Catania, Michael Catania, Jenna Catania and Jamie Catania.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Robert G. Clinton and George W. Clinton, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 3rd, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A Prayer Service will be held Monday evening at 7:45 p.m. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, 195 Hudson St, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY 12520. (foodbankofhudsonvalley.org)
