Montefiore Medical Center’s larger health care system has expanded its footprint in northeast Bronx by nearly 100,000 square feet.

Montefiore Health System signed a long-term expansion for 96,500 square feet inside Tower One and the Metro Center Atrium at Simone Development Companies’ Hutchison Metro Center in the Pelham Bay neighborhood, the landlord told the media.

The lease brings Montefiore’s footprint at the medical campus at 1250 Waters Place to 453,000 square feet.

Simone said the new space will allow the hospital to consolidate clinical and administrative offices and expand clinical departments including women’s health, breast oncology, urology and orthopedics.

Simone recently refinanced its 300,000-square-foot Throggs Neck Shopping Center with a $68.5 million loan from French investment bank Natixis.
