Early Morning Bronx Fire Kills 1

Authorities say an early morning fire in the Bronx has claimed the life of one person and seriously injured two others.

The fire broke out around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Fire officials say the blaze started in a garage and spread to a private dwelling at 3303 Bronxwood Ave.

Police say a 71-year-old man was removed to Montefiore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 53-year-old man was hospitalized with burns to his arms and back. A 51-year-old woman was listed in stable condition; her injuries were not immediately known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
