Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav today marked the first day of Summer with the release of the comprehensive 2011 New York City Youth Guide to Summer Fun.

With hundreds of diverse offerings spanning every borough, there is something suitable for New Yorkers of all ages.  All of the activities listed are either free or provided at very low cost to participants.

The Guide offers a day-by-day calendar of events, as well as activities that will be on-going throughout the summer. Included in the Guide is a list of museum deals, public barbecue sites, pools, sprinkler parks, beaches and other interesting activities and exciting places to explore throughout the City.  There is also a listing of summer concerts, festivals, performances, special events and “happenings” taking place in all five boroughs.

“It is with great pleasure that we release our annual collection of summer activities for the young and young-at-heart,” said DYCD Commissioner Jeanne Mullgrav. “If you’re looking for a one stop guide to a summer ‘stay-cation,’ look no further. The 2011 Guide to Summer Fun is your passport to a range of activities in the five boroughs, from the artistic to the athletic and everything in between.”

DYCD would like to thank all of New York City’s libraries, museums, cultural groups and other youth-serving organizations that have been partners in compiling 2011 New York City Youth Guide to Summer Fun.
