Yvette Brissett-Andre Appointed To The Board Of Mental Health News Education, Inc.

Unique People Services Executive Director Yvette Brissett-Andre is among four distinguished behavioral health leaders elected to the Board of Mental Health News Education, Inc. (MHNE).

The nonprofit organization, founded in 1999, publishes Behavioral Health News and Autism Spectrum News, vital health education resources read by 260,000 subscribers across the United States.

In her new role, Brissett-Andre brings more than two decades of experience in strategic planning, program development and contract management. Since taking the helm at Unique People Services (UPS) in 2008, she has been instrumental in executing major fundraising campaigns, resulting in continued growth for the agency and the enhancement of vital services for individuals living with developmental disabilities, HIV/AIDS and mental health challenges. Brissett-Andre works closely with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, the New York State Office of Mental Health, and the New York City Department of Homeless Services to ensure every need is met.

As a nonprofit 501(c)3, UPS has been impacting the lives of hundreds of New Yorkers since 1991, through supportive housing, counseling programs and a wealth of other support services for individuals in need. Under Brissett-Andre’s leadership, the agency will embark on its next milestone in 2017: the opening of its first affordable housing complex, Lynn’s Place, providing a warm, safe home for dozens of low-income residents and mentally challenged individuals in Bronx. In addition to leading Unique People Services, Brissett-Andre also serves on the Board of the Interagency Council of New York and is a member of the executive team of the Fortune Society.
