Bronx Woman Busted On Identity Theft

A New York woman was arrested after police say she tried to purchase thousands of dollars worth of high end electronics under a phony identity.

Ndeye Sene, 26, of 1279 Rev. James A. Polite Avenmue, Bronx, NY, was charged with third-degree larceny, criminal attempt and identity theft. She posted $5,000 bond and is due in court September 18, 2012.

Police say an employee at Best Buy, 330 Connecticut Avenue, became suspicious after Sene tried to purchase several high value items, including an Apple Macbook laptop.

Sene allegedly told the clerk that she did not have her Capital One credit card with her, but said she could get the pin number by calling the customer service line.

Sene allegedly knew the card holder's social security number, but she failed to properly answer the automated security questions to identify the credit card number, police said.

A Capital One representative tracked down the actual card holder, who said she was not in Connecticut, nor was she attempting to purchase electronics from Best Buy.

Police say Sene waited at Best Buy for police to arrive and was taken into custody.
