Bronx Borough President Diaz Hosts “Chess In The Schools” Tournament

On Tuesday, December 20, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. will welcome over 200 students, grades 3-8, from Bronx public schools to the Andrew Freedman Home to compete in the Bronx Borough President’s Chess Challenge.

The tournament will be separated into two sections – an Elementary School section and a Junior High School section – and individuals as well as team champions from both sections will be given awards.

Bronx Borough President Diaz will be on hand throughout the event to play in chess games with the students, provide encouragement and present tournament winners with awards.

The event is sponsored by AT&T and will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
