6th Annual Latin American Cultural Week

Pan American Musical Art Research (PAMAR), founded and directed by Polly Ferman, announces the 6th Annual Latin American Cultural Week (LACW), a diverse and dynamic showcase of the rich culture of Latin America, with theater, music, dance, film, auctions and visual arts.

The events will take place starting November 10-17, throughout New York City, including Bronx.

PAMAR will present this year’s opening event, a Festival of Latin American Music, on Thursday, November 10 – 8:00 PM at Hiro Ballroom at the Maritime Hotel, 88 Ninth Avenue in Manhattan. Performers will include Venezuelan violinist Eddy Marcano and his Trio Acustico, Chilean expatriates Los Chamanes with Natalia Bernal and the Brazilian sounds of Ogans. LACW 2011 closing events will be on Thursday, November 17 at 5:15 p.m. - The 4th Annual Latin American Piano and Song Festival NYC at the Woody Tanger Auditorium of Brooklyn College Library, 2900 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn. The event is free. For more information, please go here.

On Friday, November 18 at 8:00 PM - PAMAR and the Manhattan Camerata Present: The Tango-Fado Project, at The Blessed Sacrament Church, 152 W. 71st Street in Manhattan. Bronx events include September 29, 2011- January 15, 2012 - Muntadas: Information>>Space>>Control - an exhibition of Catalan artist Antoni Muntadas' work. This exhibition is supported by The Institut Ramon Lull and is part of the Catalan Days Festival.

More than one hundred and fifty artists and organizations are participating in this year’s 35+ LACW programs that will include Cuban jazz saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera, Literature from Rio de Janeiro at The Americas Society, the PINTA Art Fair, Christie's and Sotheby's Latin American Art Sales, Viva America! A celebration of Hispanic Heritage art exhibition at Empire State College, Brazil’s Dende and Band, Colombian classical guitarist Nilko Andreas Guarin, Colombian painter Raul Manzano, Dominican Impressionist Folk Painting Exhibit at Centro Civico Cultural Dominicano, Argentina’s Praxis International Art, several theatrical performances at Repertorio Español and much more.

These LACW programs reach out to more than 500,000 individuals through a worldwide promotional and marketing campaign.

Other participating institutions and performance venues include Lincoln Center, World Music Institute, Carnegie Hall, Consulates General of Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Uruguay, as well as Instituto Cervantes, Museo del Barrio, Mexican Cultural Institute and the IATI Theater.
