A woman was found dead with her throat slashed inside of a Bronx apartment Wednesday, police say.
Zoila Feliz was pronounced dead at her Stratford Avenue apartment around 12:48 a.m., according to police.
Police responded to the home and found the 22-year-old woman unconscious with her neck cut open.
Neighbors say Feliz’ mother, Margarita Feliz, 57, could not get into their apartment when she came home from work.
She got access to the fire escape from the super, and saw her daughter covered in blood on the floor inside the apartment.
Gremaris Colon, 22, described the slain woman as her best friend. They worked together at a nearby Walgreens Pharmacy.
“She was a sweet girl. She didn’t have any enemies,” she said. “She was bubbly, and devoted to her son. His second birthday is today. She had a party all planned out, and then this happens.”
Colon added, “She would do anything and everything for her son.”
Colon said Feliz’s mother is devastated and wondering why anyone would want to kill her daughter. Grieving family and friends packed into her apartment just across the street from her daughter’s place.
“She said, ‘They took a chunk of my heart,’” Colon said.
There were no signs of forced entry, according to Colon.
Medics rushed to the victim’s home. Feliz’ death has been classified as a homicide.
Cops have made no arrests and have yet to identify a suspect.
The city medical examiner will investigate how Feliz died and try to determine what type of object caused the cut to her neck, sources said.
