An autistic teen who disappeared after leaving her Bronx home has been found safe, officials said Wednesday.

Zaahira Farouk, 18, left her apartment on Grand Concourse near E. 156th Street just after 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, officials said. Her parents reported her missing when she did not return home after a few hours.

Farouk left home without her jacket and cops worried for her safety released a photo of her to the public.

Early Wednesday, a Bronx resident who saw Farouk on Eastchester Road near Morris Park, about eight miles from her home, recognized her from media reports and flagged down an approaching squad car.

The teen was taken to an area hospital, where she received a clean bill of health and was sent home, officials said.
