Bronx Men Had 48 Fraudulent Credit Cards

Police arrested two Bronx men who they allege had 48 fraudulent credit cards in their possession in a car parked behind a CVS pharmacy in Wayne that drew an officer’s attention.

Adam D. Ferguson and Devon Jenkins, both 21, were charged Wednesday night with credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card. Jenkins was also charged with providing false information, a police report stated.

At about 7 p.m., a police officer saw Jenkins sitting in a white Ford located in a remote corner of the parking lot behind CVS at Ratzer Road and Hamburg Turnpike. The store has been the target of numerous shoplifting incidents and the police have reported many drug arrests in the area.

When asked what he was doing there, Jenkins told the officer that he and his friend were about to leave, but the officer noted he seemed nervous, the report stated. Pressed for identification, Jenkins eventually surrendered his wallet, which contained three Visa credit cards in the name of “James Lucas.” His license had Jenkins’ picture, but a different name, that of “Daniel Gibson.”

Later, while searching for further credentials in the car’s glove box, the police found another 45 credit cards, in two rubber-banded stacks, all in the names of “James Lucas” and “Daniel Gibson.”

A CVS employee told police that Ferguson purchased several gift cards from the store. After signing a consent-to-search form, police found and seized two iPod Touch devices in their original packaging.

Two financial crime specialists of the Secret Service are assisting Wayne police in the investigation. Wayne police Det. Dennis Ferray said the Secret Service, which sometimes advises local departments, was called because of the magnitude of the alleged crime. The specialists interviewed both suspects after they were transported to the police station, and made copies of the evidence.

Ferguson and Jenkins are being held at the Passaic County Jail, each on $25,000 bond.
