A Bronx man, rushed to the hospital after being shot in the neck and was released with the bullet still in his body, returned to the hospital Saturday, only two days later.

Ricardo Acevedo’s wife had to call him an ambulance Saturday morning after he complained of pain.

Acevedo was taken to Montefiore Hospital again.

Acevedo was injured Thursday night while replacing a security camera outside a Pelham Parkway deli. A 12-year-old and 15-year-old girl were also caught in the crossfire.

He said he heard the sound of gunfire before realizing he was hit.

Surveillance cameras captured the suspect, seen running through the deli, dressed in a green-hooded sweatshirt and yellow pants.

After the shooting he fled down Holland Avenue with two others apparently chasing him down.

Acevedo was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital after the shooting, and soon after was sent home.

Despite an X-ray showing the bullet lodged close to his skull, the hospital defends its actions, saying “The bullet was not posing any danger to the patient. It was not in the skull but in the skin. As a precaution, doctors did not want to remove it, and the victim has a follow-up appointment with a clinic on Monday.”

For Acevedo, the appointment did not seem to come soon enough. He remains hospitalized Saturday night.

The two girls who were also shot were treated and released from Jacobi Hospital.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
