On Saturday, December 16, 2017, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. took part in the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo Toy Giveaway for the children of veterans and active military members.

The annual event took place at the Bronx Zoo’s Schiff Family Great Hall, where approximately 75 veterans of all branches, and more than 200 children participated.

Guests were greeted by Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and their holiday helpers, who welcomed everyone with cookies, hot chocolate and toys. Participants at the event were also provided with free entrance to enjoy the Bronx Zoo for the remainder of the day.

This year, Roadway Moving Company, supplied the toys for the event, which is now in its eighth year.

“I am proud so many service members of every branch, both active and veterans, joined us today for this wonderful holiday celebration,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “We are thankful for the sacrifices our veterans have made for our country, and the holiday season is a perfect time to show that gratitude. My office is especially grateful to the Wildlife Conservation Society and Roadway Moving Company for their sponsorship of this terrific annual event.”
