Smith Electric Vehicles Corp. will begin assembling electric trucks at a new facility in Bronx, by the end of the year.

Smith Electric Vehicles Corp. builds and designs zero-emission electric trucks and will soon be doing this from its new facility. The company signed a lease for the 90,000-square-foot Bronx property in August, 2012.

Smith Electric Vehicles Corp.'s Chief Executive Bryan Hansel states that the plant will be involved only with the final assembly of the vehicles after the pieces have been manufactured elsewhere and shipped to the Bronx facility.

Approximately 100 trucks will be rolled out of the facility every month.
