Mary Olushoga is in the running to win $1,000 through GOOD Maker and Oxfam America, a new online platform for catalyzing social change.

Mary Olushoga’s idea involves creating an online curriculum that will enable African women and youths launch, or enhance their business and technological skills, so that they can continue to solve various entrepreneurial challenges.

Mary Olushoga is president and founder of The AWP Network, an organization with strategic goals to support emerging entrepreneurs. The AWP network through interviews, profiles the entrepreneurial stories, successes, and business challenges of African women entrepreneurs. They provide inspiration by sharing these stories. The idea is not limited to stories but our aim is to provide an online curriculum that enables these women to enhance their business and technological skills.

As a change agent, Mary Olushoga has led business education webinars for organizations like Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence where she was program manager and ACCION USA. She has also consulted with the New York State Department of Transportation, on how to increase procurement opportunities to Disadvantaged, Minority, and Women Business Enterprises. Mary recently served as an expert speaker on women entrepreneurs at the United States Department of Labor Add Us In Initiative on Inclusion, Entrepreneurship, and Disability strategy meeting.

She is an active member of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative and her work has been recognized by the New York State Bar Foundation and the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Her article “Let Africans Redeem Africa,” has featured on Sahara Reporters and she has also featured on BBC World News as an expert speaker on how to move Nigeria forward.

Mary earned a Bachelor‘s degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York and a Master of Science degree from Baruch College. In 2009, she served as a Women and Public Policy Fellow at the Center for Women in Government and Civil Society at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy in Albany, New York.
