Learning through an Expanded Arts Program (LEAP) will recognize student artists with an Opening Reception of LEAP’s 15th Annual Student Art Exhibition.

The exhibition will feature works by students in kindergarten through eighth grade who participated in LEAP’s Afterschool Program, LEAP’s Public Art Program and LEAP’s Active Learning Leads to Literacy (ALLL) Program.

From African-inspired artworks, issue-based murals and photo portraits of loved ones, to Modigliani-inspired drawings, 3-D birds and multi-cultural masks with a contemporary spin, students explored a variety of art disciplines and techniques while learning core academic subjects. The exhibition runs through March and is open to the public.

The art in the exhibition was created by students attending:

Queens
77Q Intermediate School 77

Bronx
Teller Avenue Educational Campus
228X Jonas Bronck Academy
219X New Venture Academy

Brooklyn
51K William Alexander School
88K Peter Rouget School

Manhattan
165M Robert E. Simon School

“We are so proud of our students as they have embraced academic material through engaging in arts-based strategies, and have produced such beautiful and powerful works of art,” said Rich Souto, LEAP Executive Director.
