Bronx Train Derailment Spills Fuel Into Oak Point Yard

The FDNY got a call about the derailment at 10:38 a.m., the FDNY said, for the crash near the Bruckner Expressway Leggett Avenue.

Photos from the scene posted to social media showed several train cars lying on their side. Nobody was injured in the derailment, the FDNY said, but oil leaked out from one of the cars.

The situation was declared under control at 11:35 a.m., meaning the company who operates the train was taking over the incident, the FDNY said.

The FDNY did not have any further information about the train or estimates of how much fuel was spilled.
