Joseph Brady Passes At 79

Joseph Brady, 79

Joseph Brady, 79, of New Windsor, died October 16, 2012, at home with his family by his side.

He was born March 31, 1933, in Bronx, where he spent his childhood, to parents Aloyius and Gertrude Brady.

Joseph served as an Army corporal for two years during the Korean War. He was an artillery mechanic attached to the 82nd Triple A 2nd Division and the 82nd Triple A 7th Division.

He married Peggy Schnorr in 1958 at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church. They lived in Bronx until 1969, when they moved to Thiells in Rockland County. In 2005, he and Peggy moved to New Windsor in Orange County.

He worked for 50 years before retiring in 2005. His greatest enjoyment was time he spent at his hunting club. He also loved New England and made many trips there, along with newly discovered enjoyable cruises.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; a daughter, Kathy Hannon and her husband, John; a son, Michael and his wife, Tara, eight grandchildren, Matthew, Billy and Ryan Hannon, Brendan, Amanda and Molly Brady, and M.J. and Kristen Legeyt; two great-grandchildren, Collin Brady and Olivia Hannon; a niece, Patricia Legeyt; and three nephews, Chris McGinnis, Robert Senk and Brian McGinnis.

He was preceded in death by a son, Billy, in 1982.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 20 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish, 21 Cinder Rd., in Garnerville. Burial with military honors followed in Cemetery of the Ascension, 650 Saddle River Rd., in Monsey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions on Joseph's behalf may be sent to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Thomas Lockhart

was born June 8, 1953. Mr. Lockhart is a former Bronx resident from the Marble Hill section, and attended The Bronx High School of Science and Manhattan College. A former All-American basketball player at both institutions, he left for Europe in 1976 to pursue a professional career after a brief encounter with the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. Continuing his education he actively plunged into corporate marketing communications with international companies like Philips, Alstom, Qiagen Instruments, KPMG, European Space Administration, ABN-Amro Bank and the Port of Rotterdam, while continuing to play ball and coach. Teaching English and advertising in Holland led to the setup of Ideas Unlimited, his own International Business Communications firm. Mr. Lockhart has lived and worked in various countries for the past 33 years, speaks German, French, Dutch and is currently learning Italian. Now residing near Zurich Switzerland, he has three children, Jarrett, 31 Chief of Staff with the Bronx City Council, 14th District, Maraya, 21 and Malik, 11. Tom is currently serving as Communications Manager and Asst. Operations Coordinator of the Marble Hill Reunion and Development Project.
