Catherine Badolato Passes At Age 86

Catherine "Kitty" Badolato, 86, of Monroe, died Aug. 9, 2012, at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown.

She was born June 22, 1926, in the Bronx to parents Margaret and Frank Colangelo.

She married Leopold Christopher Badolato on October 29, 1949 at Mount Carmel Church in Bronx. Kitty and Leo are the proud parents of sons Charles James of Monroe and David Jerome of Otisville. Kitty was dearly loved as a second mom by David's girlfriend, Fina.

Kitty worked in the billing department of several Bronx hospitals and made floral arrangements in her cousin's flower shop. She also was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, the Jolly Seniors of Monroe, Young at Heart and the Quilting Grannies.

Kitty was a talented crafter and loved making gifts for friends and relatives, especially her nieces and nephews. The special hors d'oeuvres and meals she created earned her the label of best cook on both sides of the family. She also was an avid player of games such as bingo, Uno and solitaire with members of her family.

Survivors include her husband, Leo; two sons, Charles of Monroe and David of Otisville; two sisters, Marie Chianese and Camille Boscia and her husband, Nick; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Connie and Richard Petrone; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia Ann, and a brother-in-law, Pat Chianese.

A funeral Mass was offered Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, in Monroe. Burial followed at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 111 Craigville Road in Goshen.

Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Homes, 117 Maple Avenue, in Monroe, handled all funeral arrangements.
